The Creole Nutcracker is conducting a regional search for the performer who will take the stage as our 2026 Nutcracker Prince.
We are seeking a dynamic male dancer of color, age 18 or older, with strong ballet technique, commanding stage presence, and the ability to bring confidence, strength, and artistry to this featured role.
Professional, pre-professional, collegiate, and recent graduate dancers are encouraged to apply. Applicants do not need to be current members of a professional ballet company, but they should have strong technical training, ballet performance experience, and the ability to learn and retain choreography quickly.

The Creole Nutcracker reimagines the beloved holiday tradition through the culture, rhythms, movement, stories, and spirit of Louisiana.

WHO WE ARE SEEKING
Applicants should:

Be 18 years of age or older

Identify as a male dancer of color

Possess strong ballet technique

Have partnering experience and the physical ability and willingness to partner

Demonstrate strong stage presence and performance quality

Be able to learn and retain choreography quickly

Be dependable, professional, and communicative

Be available for required rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and performances in Lafayette, Louisiana
Professional dancers, pre-professional dancers, college dancers, recent graduates, dance educators, and musical-theatre performers with the required movement background are welcome to apply.
PRODUCTION COMMITMENT
Location: Lafayette, Louisiana
Public Performance: Saturday, December 19, 2026
School Performances: December 15, 2026-December 17, 2026
Rehearsals: Select Sundays beginning in November (Could be open to other options)
Technical and Dress Rehearsals: Week of December 14, 2026-December 18, 2026
November rehearsals will generally be limited to approximately two hours. The selected performer must be available for all required production rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and performances.
Additional school or touring performances may be offered separately based on availability.
COMPENSATION
This is a paid featured performance opportunity.
The selected performer will receive:

$600 public production and performance fee (2 day fee)

Paid rehearsals at $35 per hour

Lodging for an approved out-of-town performer, when applicable

Additional compensation for any separately contracted school or touring performances
Travel arrangements and any additional performance opportunities will be discussed directly with the selected performer.
HOW TO APPLY

Your availability for November rehearsals and the December 14–19 production week
Video submissions should clearly demonstrate ballet technique, movement quality, performance presence, and partnering experience when available.

1) Providing a private or unlisted YouTube link in the Google Form to your video/reel.

You MUST Submit at least one video file showcasing your ballet skills.
You can submit up to 3 video files.
